Welcome to the RCT Newsletter February 2017

The last month has been a busy time for RCT, and the new Board of Trustees is very grateful for all the help, support and encouragement it is receiving from near and far.

The new Trustees are continuing with their internal audit to address legacy issues and improve risk management.  RCT is now a member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and the Trustees are using NCVO guidance to work on key processes of governance within the charity.

RCT is regularly liaising with the Parish Councils, Edgcumbe Estate, our local community and other interested parties.  The Trust is also building partnerships with regional and national organisations with interests in Maker Heights – especially Cornwall Council, Historic England, Natural England and the Charity Commission.

Historic England (HE) has many interests at Maker Heights, especially the Scheduled Monuments and Listed Buildings , and we are pleased to be working closely with HE towards their Conservation Management Plan for the site.

We are collaborating with Natural England and Cornwall Council because Maker Heights forms an important part of the Rame Head Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (http://www.cornwall-aonb.gov.uk/ramehead/).

The new Trustees also have a valuable and ongoing dialogue with the Charity Commission and have been instructed to prepare a full report to the Commission on the sale of Trust land and buildings in 2015.

So, it’s been a busy month for the Trust team with a great deal of work still to be done towards our audit report.  We now have nine Board members and, if you are interested in past and present  Trustees, please have a look at:

Huge THANK YOUs to everyone who is giving their time and efforts to support the Trust, including all our user groups, Maker Events Ltd, RCT Members, colleagues in our partner organisations, supporters of Maker-with-Rame CIC, our generous local communities and all fundraising efforts for the repair of the Barrack Building.

RCT still needs a great deal of support if it is to remain a going concern and meet its objectives. Please show your support for Rame Conservation Trust by becoming a Member.  From just £10 a year you can keep up to date with current news, events and progress.  Become a Member at
